Introduction

The Cayman National Cultural Foundation invites proposals from small theatre companies or individual creatives in the dramatic arts seeking funding to stage productions at the Cayman Islands National Theatre, in the Studio Theatre. Through this grant program, we aim to strengthen the creative industry by supporting performances that engage thoughtfully with local issues and cultural identity. Proposals should include dynamic original works or distinguished regional or international plays. Applicants are expected to demonstrate that the selected script meets a high standard of quality, as this is essential to attracting audiences, generating revenue, and building the reputations that sustain theatre companies. Grants to small theatre companies or individuals empower emerging artists, expand access to critical dialogue and support talent development.

Scope

The Emerging Theatre Grant is designed to provide support for the development and presentation of new theatrical work by an emerging artist. Each recipient is awarded $4,000 in direct funding to complete the production of a dramatic work. In addition, this grant includes the use of the Studio Theatre without additional cost for both rehearsals and a full production run, ensuring that artists have access to professional facilities without incurring venue costs. The grantee’s biography and their production will be featured across CNCF media platforms to help support visibility for the artists.  This grant represents an investment in emerging theatre artists and support for the dramatic arts in the Cayman Islands.
