GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
Our current programs support high-quality research studies in our focus areas, career-development awards for promising early-career faculty, grants that encourage research institutions to make structural changes that encourage engaged research, and programs of good-neighbor grants that support nonprofit youth service providers in the Cayman Islands.

Grants For The Arts
Grants are a way to request funding from an organisation or corporation, either public or private. Many organisations offer grants for specific purposes. For example, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s (CNCF) Grants for the Arts programme focuses on supporting cultural and creative communities. Grants are more than just financial awards, they are tools that help match the goals of the organisation providing the funding with the goals of the person or group receiving it. This is why understanding the purpose of a grant is so important when applying.
Although financial support is one of the main reasons grants matter, they offer many other benefits. Grants can have a strong impact on communities by funding projects that address local needs and support community programmes. Many of these initiatives would not exist without grant funding. Grants also help people learn and share knowledge. From schools and universities to community-based projects, grants make it possible to teach skills, pass on expertise, and make information more accessible. In addition, grants encourage accountability by making sure funds are used for their intended purpose, which helps build trust between funders and the public.
CNCFs Grants for the Arts is clear in its goal to strengthen the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) in the Cayman Islands, which is key in CNCFs overall mission to:
“promote, protect, preserve, and nurture our cultural and artistic heritage, for all. We will provide the unity to bring together our traditions, expressions of culture, groups, individuals and institutions that make up our arts and culture sector. Through access to expertise, training and professional development, funding and grants, we will help Cayman preserve our cultural identity and grow an even richer, more vibrant arts and culture scene.”
The arts and culture sector, along with the individuals and organisations that receive grants, also provides valuable information that helps strengthen CCIs in Cayman. Cultural and creative industries play an important role in creating jobs and generating national income. They also contribute to place branding, attract investment and talent, and help renew communities. By allocating grants for a specific purpose or to a creative sector such as theatre, dance, literature, and heritage, it ensures that any gaps within that sector are identified and addressed. The information gathered from grant applications and funded projects also helps guide future investment and development in Cayman’s creative industries.
