The Unseen Ordinary is a contemporary mixed media exhibition that shifts attention away from the post card image of the Cayman Islands. Instead, the work explores the everyday scenes, objects, and moments that quietly shape local life and memory.
Through paintings inspired by observation, nostalgia, and lived experience, the exhibition captures an overlooked side of Cayman - Corner stores, roadside moments, familiar foods, neighborhood textures, and ordinary spaces people pass every day without a second thought.
The Unseen Ordinary invites viewers to reconsider what is worthy of being documented and remembered, revealing beauty, identity and meaning within familiar realities of every Caymanian life.

Leanna Lewis
Leanna Lewis is a Caymanian multidisciplinary artist, designer, and creative director whose work is shaped by a lifelong connection to creativity, storytelling, and visual expression. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from York University in Toronto, Ontario, where she developed her foundation in fine art, visual communication, and creative exploration.
Working across acrylic paint, acrylic markers, oil pastels, photography, and mixed media, Leanna’s work is recognized for its bold use of colour, expressive mark-making, and ability to transform familiar subjects into vibrant visual stories. Her approach blends the spontaneity of traditional art practices with the strong sense of composition and storytelling developed throughout her career as a designer.
After completing her studies, Leanna continued building a multidisciplinary creative career spanning graphic design, branding, marketing, photography, and creative direction. She is the Owner and Creative Director of Visual Paradise, a Cayman-based creative studio focused on helping businesses and individuals communicate their stories through thoughtful and impactful design.
Leanna returned to her personal art practice with a renewed perspective and deeper appreciation for the everyday moments, memories, and surroundings that influence her work. Through her art, she continues to explore the relationship between place, nostalgia, and the small details that connect people to their community.
